Brown Butter Banana Bread Latte
A cozy homemade latte made with a rich brown butter and ripe banana syrup, swirled into strong espresso and warm oat milk for a café-worthy spring morning treat.
Ingredients
- 2 cupswhole milk (or unsweetened almond milk for dairy-free)
- 3 tablespoonsunsalted butter
- 1 largeripe banana, sliced
- 2 tablespoonsbanana bread spice mix (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger)
- 1 tablespoonhoney or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoonvanilla extract
- pinchsea salt
- 2 tablespoonsbrewed espresso or strong coffee
How to make it
Heat butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma, about 5 minutes. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
Add sliced banana to the brown butter and cook for 2 minutes, stirring gently until the banana softens slightly.
Pour in the milk and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Add banana bread spice mix, honey, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Stir well to combine.
Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing flavors to meld together.
Remove from heat and use an immersion blender to blend until smooth and frothy, about 2 minutes.
Divide the mixture between two mugs and top each with 1 tablespoon of brewed espresso. Stir gently.
Serve immediately while hot, optionally garnished with cinnamon or banana chips.
